Write down all the words in the hacking screen. It helps if they are in the correct order.

Then, do the following until you hack the terminal or have one use remaining.
      1. Choose one word and use it. It should give you a number (for very easy, a number out of 5. For easy, out of 7. For average, out of 9, etc.)
      2. Afterwards, cross off the word you selected unless you got lucky enough to hack it in one try.
      3. Then, compare the letters of the two words a position at a time. For example, if you compare "CRISIS" to "CROWDS", you will notice that letters 1, 2, and 6 are the same, so they have 3 letters in common. Since the number of common letters match between the words, you don't cross it off. If they have more or less letters in common than the number from step 3, cross them off. You should be left with a list of four or five words, but sometimes you'll be left with less or more.
      4. Repeat the process with a word that's not crossed off.

If you end up with one attempt left, try to buy back attempts using a Paren Trick or if you have no more Paren Tricks, close the terminal and re-open it.

    Paren Tricks

Within the code, you'll find parenthesis and brackets of all sorts that encapsulate from 0 to 6 characters between them. Each occurrence is usually a "Paren Trick". You'll know you found one when you highlight the opening character and the whole trick is typed out as though it was a word. Using a trick does not count against your attempts total, so you can use them safely even if you have only one attempt remaining.

They always start with one of the following and end with the matching ending character:

    ( { < [

When you highlight one and then use it, one of two things will happen. You'll be given additional attempts to find the cracking word, if you have less than 4 attempts remaining, or a word will be crossed off by the computer for you, making less words you have to match. If you get the message "Error. Operation Denied" then you have only one word left and thus, it's the word you need.

Higher skill levels give you more tricks, but their appearance is still random.

If you use them early, you have less words to fish through, but if you use them later, you may get back attempts, so which one to use is up to you.
